Purpose of dreams. In the Old Testament God often used dreams to reveal His will. God promised to show His will unto the prophets in dreams (Num. 12:6).5 Job said that “God speaketh … in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed” (Job 22:14–15).
